Description du poste
The UM6P Corelabs is recruiting a skilled and motivated Electron Microscopy Engineer to join the Imaging & Characterization platform. The Corelabs serves as a platform to support technical and scientific research within UM6P and as a service provider to external customers. The Engineer will be responsible for operating and maintaining the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and, where applicable, the transmission electron microscope (TEM), ensuring high-quality analytical services to internal researchers, doctoral students, and industrial clients. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in materials characterization, hands-on experience in electron microscopy, and a service-oriented mindset.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive, process, and prioritize client requests for SEM/TEM analyses.
- Prepare samples for electron microscopy observation according to the nature of the materials (coating, polishing, embedding, ion milling, ultramicrotomy for biological samples).
- Operate the SEM at an advanced level: high-resolution imaging (SE/BSE modes), EDS elemental mapping, and EBSD analysis.
- Perform TEM/STEM observations when required: high-resolution imaging, EDS microanalysis, and EELS spectroscopy.
- Advise and assist clients in defining their analytical needs and interpreting results.
- Produce clear and structured analysis reports for clients.
- Ensure first-level maintenance of instruments and report malfunctions to the platform manager and equipment suppliers.
- Develop, validate, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample preparation and analysis protocols.
- Maintain traceability of experiments and ensure data integrity and archiving.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations (HSE).
- Participate in the quality management of the platform (ISO procedures, internal audits).
- Contribute to training sessions and workshops for platform users.
